Moséra |
Born : Saint Lucia, 1955 . Now lives and works in Saint Martin (French West Indies).
Training : Autodidact
« Some of My work is an interpretation of the Caribbean irony, which is in abundance, Because of our complex historical background, I believe in the search of beauty and our whimsical self, which are the rights of a people. The artist should be regarded as a healer of a people's psyche,a mirrors of ourselves ... And in a region that is in need of healing therapy, I am aware that the arts in general, are one of the most powerful and important therapeutic activities, and all the more so, if the artist is aware of this potential."
_ _ _ _ _
"His sophisticated, expressionistic works hang in private collections and galleries and museums in Israel, Holland, Sweden, France, Moscow and New York. He is acknowledged to be at the vanguard of a regional school of painting that is seeking to become international, to change preconceived notions of what Caribbean art should and should not be."
by Andy Gross, journalist
A bold contemporary expressionist, abstract in tendency, Mosera nevertheless brings a strong sense of structure to his canvases... An artist of great knowledge for color and surfaces, he can take a color captured on a certain moment of the day and reincarnate it on his canvasses, by surrounding and mixing it with surprising and incoherent fragments of the African Caribbean World.
In his watercolors Mosera reveals a wide range of artistic knowledge, from gentle color effects, such as bleeding and to the brush sense on his paper. A single exhibition provides the opportunity for only a glimpse of his scope... Over all, no period of Mosera's work is paramount but each period, color, serenity and composition plays a singular role.

Elisabeth Piquet was born in 1961 in Algeria. The Sahara stories of her family influenced her childhood and her life of « modern nomad ».
After studying literature at « La Sorbonne » and Decorative Arts at « L’atelier Albers » in Paris, she starts her professional career as an interior decorator, working on projects that lead her to Africa, her favorite place, where she will stay for some time.
She then moves to the Caribbean for a long period where her professional activity of interior decorator and her passion for painting are harmoniously balanced. In St Martin she continues her Art exhibitions – the first begun in Abidjan in 1984- an immediate success confirming her talent.
Her personal life leads her to Morrocco where she stays for a while. She works on hand-painted wall hangings for some hotels in Marrakech.
Back in France she takes a course to become a creative expression workshop animator at « L’atelier de l’Art cru » in Bordeaux and begins to illustrate childrens books.
In February 2008, after spending several years overseas, Elisabeth comes back to St Martin just in time to set up a new exhibition at « Camaïeu Art Gallery ».
Elisabeth makes up her own colors based on natural pigments. Her technique is mixed : acrylic, oil, collages of silk paper …

Charlotte Madézo |
Charlotte Madézo is a French artist. She was born in 1962 in little Brittany.
In a nod to her long family heritage of sailors, and her own training as an agricultural engineer, she pulls elements of earth and sea into her tableaux.
Under her brushes, elongated figures take form, busy with everyday occupations (gardeners, fishermen …) or leisure activities (swimmers at the beach, café scenes …). Her work has a dreamlike ambiance, almost on the verge of surrealism.
Colors, forms and subjects mix in surprising ways, free from our usual sense of time and space.
Her palette flows from land to sea, from the blues of a northwest wind to the warm ochres of rocks.
She has shown her work for fifteen years in art galleries, especially in France. She works in collaboration with museums (Oleron Island museum, 2006) and with private places or events.
She also produces illustrations for different subjects (posters, documents…) with a preference for projects concerning environmental themes.

Anne Miller |
Anne Miller creates her delicate watercolors in a small studio aboard her home , a sailboat on which she cruises the Caribbean with her family . Travelling through the islands Anne finds inspiration in all of the different aspects of the local life-styles. She especially loves the traditionnal architecture, markets and boats that vary from island to island .
.
Anne’s appreciation and sensitive interpretation of the diverse features of the life in the caribbean have won her affection of many of the islanders she paints. One of her greatest pleasures is to be told by islanders how much they enjoy her paintings and appreciate her efforts to capture the many features of a way of life that is passing as the islands become more and more developped.
Her small paintings of island people, gingerbread houses, colorful markets and fishing boats, have an emotionnal appeal that has lead locals as well as visitors to become Anne Miller collectors . Her first works were simply charming. Now they are delicate masterpieces. Her watercolors reflect her love for life in the West Indies and a longing for simple life spent in harmony with nature.
Anne spends at least five hours a day painting. Her subtle use of light and shadow and extraordinary use of details have garnered immense popularity as a Caribbean watercolorist.
The series of Caribbean Images Limited Edidion Prints are sold by selected galleries and gift shops throughout the islands. They are published from her watercolor paintings and printed on archival paper.
